Reflections in the City of Lakes

We were attending a conference in Udaipur,Rajasthan in India, back in 2014. Udaipur, the City of Lakes, is often hailed as one of the most romantic places in India. But it was only on our last night in Udaipur, when we sat down at a rooftop diner called Upre by 1559 A.D., with a spectacular 180 degree view of Lake Pichola and the City Palace; a faint dark outline of the hills, chimes of temple bells of evening aarti (worship) at one end; and some soothing Rajasthani folk music from a puppet show we had visited in a not-so-distant fort; that actually enlivened as to why! There was a certain sense of tranquility as we indulged in a candlelit dinner in a gazebo setup in silence, watching ripples and the resulting dancing lights from the majestic palace in the lake, soaking in the history and culture of this beautiful royal city…Surely, one of my best memories from the trip! :)
